INFLIGHT TEAMMATES CAN’T AFFORD UNION DUES
- As of September 2010, VX ITM dues were $23.94 per month
- Dues are based on “weighted average” of all ITMs at all seniority levels
- We won’t pay dues until we have voted yes to our first contract
- There will be no initiation fees
YOU WON’T GET ANYTHING IN RETURN FOR PAYING DUES
- Protection from unwarranted discipline
- Management accountability to the rules
- Better treatment during IROPS, while sitting Reserve
- Certainty that benefits and wages can’t be arbitrarily changed
TWU IS A THIRD PARTY
- VX ITMs will negotiate our contract
- VX ITMs will then vote to accept or reject the contract
- VX ITMs will elect fellow ITMs to serve as our officers
- VX ITMs will handle discipline and contract enforcement on a daily basis
- VX ITMs will have full backing, support, and training from TWU in all matters
WE’LL LOSE OUR “DIRECT” RELATIONSHIP
- Having a union doesn’t mean you can’t have a good relationship with management.
- “Direct relationship” results in playing favorites
- How effective has the “direct relationship” been in dealing with areas of concern for ITMs?
TWU TRIED TO SHUT VX DOWN
- Don’t we WANT our company to abide by federal law?
BUT WE HAVE A UNIQUE CULTURE; WE’RE REINVENTING TRAVEL AS WE KNOW IT. WHY WOULD YOU BRING IN A UNION?
- Can and will create the WOW for the customer
- Ability to come to work without fear of unwarranted discipline
- Have a real voice in our future and the future of VX
YOU WILL LOSE THE WAGES AND BENEFITS YOU CURRENTLY HAVE
- Bargaining begins with what we have and we work from there
- ITMs will be surveyed to find out what they want in the contract
- Every ITM will have the opportunity to vote on the proposed contract
- Would you vote for something that was less than what you already have?
OUR DIRECT RELATIONSHIP
- Inconsistent Application of work rules-favoritism
- A one sided conversation about what is “best” for ITMs
- No consequence for ignoring work rules
- Ability to change rules whenever management wants
VIRGIN AMERICA TWU
- Legally binding contract that is fair and equitable for ITMs and our airline
- End of broken promises
- Happy to come to work without fear of unwarranted discipline
- A real voice in our future for all ITMs
THIRD PARTY
Virgin America management says the Transport Workers Union doesn’t understand our culture, yet our union will be made up exclusively of Virgin America ITMs. Virgin America has an unrivaled culture in the airline industry, and nobody understands this better than us.
TWUVX: THE FACTS

- ITMs will vote to accept or reject the proposed contract
- ITMs will serve as the officers of our union
